Two get life sentence for murdering one

Atul Suryakant Kamble (21) and Praffula Shankarrao Kamble (20),both from Aundh,got life imprisonment for the murder of Ajay alias Bharat Namdeo Kamble. The third accused is a juvenile and the trial of these two were separated from that of the juvenile.

According to the prosecution,Ajay was suspected to set Suryakant’s two-wheeler on fire. Suryakant is the father of one of the accused. Ajay was unemployed and was staying with his brother Sharad,his wife and three children. On the date of the incident,the complainant returned from work around 6pm. After dinner around 10.30 pm,Shobha Suryakant Kamble,mother of the accused,told them that Ajay was abusing her.

At this,Atul,Praffula and the juvenile accused started beating Ajay with hockey sticks.

Ajay was injured and was taken to Sassoon Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 2.30 am. The police had seized the weapons and established the sequence of events that was accepted by the court.

Additional public prosecutor S M Kalbhor examined six witnesses to prove the guilt of the accused. The accused told the court through their lawyer that they were falsely implicated. After hearing both the sides,the court convicted them under Section 302 (murder) read with Section 34 (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC.
