Dental camp for warkaris
A dental camp for warkaris was organised by the M A Rangoonwala Dental College recently. The M A Rangoonwala Dental College,alongwith the Z V M General Hospital organised the free dental camp,which was attended by around 2000 warkaris. Professors,doctors and students of the college treated warkaris at the Bhikubai Menkudale Panaham Trust in Raviwar Peth. Chairman Munnawar Peerbhoy,Haji Gulam Mohammad Azam Trust (Azam Campus),P A Inamdar (President,Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society),Iqbal Mulani and S M Khan were present at the camp. Many volunteers and students of Azam Campus helped the warkaris get free treatment.
Beating stress
The British Library has organised a talk by cardiologist Dr Ravindra L Kulkarni titled Beat Stress,Live Life on June 27 from 6 to 8.30 pm at its premises on F C Road. Stress has the tendency to affect daily life,contributing to a poor quality of life,accompanied by pathological disorders. Recognising causes of stress can help an individual tackle the problem better,whether at home or at the workplace. Modifications in our lifestyle and diet also help prevent stress. Dr Kulkarni will talk about the techniques that can help develop skills that lead to better physical and emotional health,high performance,better life and productivity. In a fun,interactive way,audience can get to know the A-Z of stress management and several take-home messages. Dr R L Kulkarni is a Consultant and Interventional Cardiologist at the National Heart Institute and Deendayal Memorial Hospital. The event is open to all,by prior registration.
Ambulance donated
The Minoo Mehta Trust recently donated an ambulance worth Rs 30 lakh to the V Medical Foundation at Narayangaon. The ambulance,equipped with the latest medical equipments and facilities,will cater to patients at Pune,Ahmednagar,Nashik and other rural areas in the vicinity of Narayangaon.
Health check-up on Fathers Day
Metropolis Health Services,a nationwide chain of diagnostic centres,organised a special health check-up camp for men to commemorate Fathers Day. This special health check up camp included health check up packages for men at a special discount,which have been made available from June 20 to July 10. Metropolis will be providing these check-ups for over two weeks at their centres in Mumbai,Pune,Ahmedabad,Surat,Bangalore,Chennai,Coimbatore,Delhi and Kolkata. The rates of these packages will vary according to the city. In Pune,this service can be found in 11 Metropolis Health Services centres. Metropolis has exclusively designed the following two packages keeping in mind the need for complete well-being of men. Besides the essential tests,Metropolis will also offer PSA tests for men above the age of 45 years,at a discount of 50 per cent. All tests included in the packages cover the major health concerns amongst men in India.
Heart matters
A unique play to create awareness about cardiovascular diseases was organised by Dr Jagdish Hiremath recently. Heart by Hiremaths,Series II,aimed at creating awareness on heart diseases,was held on June 19 at the Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium,Kothrud. Actor Nikhil Ratnaparkhi played the lead role in the play,whereas the supporting roles were essayed by Siddheshwar Zhadbuke,Niyoj Mujavar,Madhuri Apte and Dr Jagdish Hiremath. Cardiovascular problems are today causing so many deaths. They are growing everyday and the rate of their growth is very high too. It is a very serious problem,but to reach the masses,we decided to make the content humorous. This makes it easier to explain the causes and prevention of the disease in an interesting and comprehensive manner, said Dr Hiremath.
