After several failed attempts in the past to fully implement the helmet rule in the city, the Pune City Traffic Police had launched an intensified drive with largest possible resource allocation and specific goals since first day of the year.

The proposal to make a statue, on the basis of a picture in Budhbhusan, a book written by Sambhaji himself, was presented by Member of Legislative Council Anil Bhosale years ago. The plan was approved by the district administration in August 2014 and the City Improvement Committee of PMC approved the proposal in June 2015.
Pune, Feb 25 (ANI): The Pune police on Thursday detained protestors opposing the release of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt from the Yerawada jail. The 56-year-old, who has spent 42 months in prison, walked out of jail around eight months ahead of time - the reprieve was granted on grounds of good behaviour. The security outside the Yerawada jail has been tightened in view of Dutt's release. Meanwhile, a PIL has also been filed in Bombay High Court by social activist Pradeep Bhalekar, seeking a stay on early release of the 56-year-old actor. The PIL says several convicts secure good-conduct reports from prison authorities but are not granted remission or early release. Reportedly, the actor has been out on parole for 90 days in December 2013 and again in August last for 30 days for personal reasons.
Mumbai, Feb 17 (ANI): The body of a girl who died in a fire incident in Russia arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday. In the shocking tragedy, two medical students from Maharashtra died of suffocation after a fire broke out in their institute in Russia on Sunday morning. The deceased were identified as Karishma Bhosale (20) from Pune and Pooja Kallur (22) from Nerul. BJP leader Kirit Somaiya was seen condoling the family members of the girl.
Pune, Jan 12 (ANI): Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev on Tuesday talked about the issue of black money at a Yoga Camp in Pune and said that in order to bring back the black money, the people of the country should boycott all foreign products and use ‘swadeshi'products. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tried to bring about a revolution by giving swadeshi products its due importance.
