Cong urges Mamata for joint protest against ‘CPM-sponsored’ violence
The state unit of the Congress has urged ally Trinamool to lauch a joint agitation against the alleged CPM-sponsored political violence in the state. “I have urged Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee to conduct a joint programme to combat CPM’s violence. I hope she will oblige to our request,” said state Congress chief Manas Bhunia on Tuesday. The Congress president’s appeal comes a day after his party workers were beaten up by police in Tamluk in East Midnapore. According to Congress,hundreds of their supporters were injured,including senior Congress leaders like Nirved Roy and Arunava Ghosh. when police lathicharged on a demonstration in front of SP office in Tamluk .

Student jumps from mall,dies
A Class XII student of Delhi Public School died after he allegedly jumped from a shopping mall near Salt Lake on Tuesday. Rittwik Banerjee,a resident of Lak Gardens,was taken a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have not received any suicide note. Rittwik was studious but was in depression for some time,said police. The motive of the suicide is,however,yet to be ascertained.
