Beleaguered Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Wednesday has cut out a new mission for himself to politically unite the kshatriyas and the most backward castes MBCs in Purvanchal region.
In his first public meeting in Varanasi after his resignation from party posts was accepted,he announced to hold a meeting of MBCs in Varanasi on January 24. He was there to flag off Kshatriya Chetna Yatra aimed at mobilising public opinion for creation of Purvanchal state.
The kshatriyas and most backward castes remained ignored under various regimes, including my partys rule,8221; he told the gathering, adding he would work to forge a strong alliance between them. Without naming the Yadavs,he said only a particular caste prospered in the recent past.
Without mentioning the Samajwadi Party which is opposed to the division of UP in smaller states,Amar Singh said the demand for creation of Purvanchal has found support from prominent socialists Madhukar Dighe and Shatrudra Prakash. The development of this region cannot be possible without the creation of Purvanchal.
He said he had heard Akhilesh Yadav Mulayam Singh8217;s son making enquiries about the strength of the crowd at the Varanasi meeting. He is like my son. He and his father had invited me to the meetings of Yadav Mahasabha, but I never sought to know the number of people who attended such meetings, Singh said. At the same time,he said he did not believe Akhilesh having made such enquiries.
