Woman clubs husband to death

A woman clubbed her husband to death at Agripada on Sunday evening. Kaisar Banu Ansari 35 hit her husband on his head and face with a wooden rod used for washing clothes. Ghul Mohammad Ansari 50 suffered serious injuries and was taken to BYL Nair Hospital, Mumbai Central, where he was declared dead on admission. The Ansaris reside at Maulana Azad Road, in a building next to Shabana Stores. The incident occurred at around 5.30 pm. Kaisar has been arrested by Agripada police. The motive for the murder is not yet known.

Uday Acharya rearrested

A city-based businessman and the mastermind behind several investment schemes, Uday Acharya, who had been out on bail, was rearrested on Monday under the state government8217;s new law to protect investors8217; rights. Acharya is facing charges of duping investors. Under the new law framed for protection of small investors, the property owned by Acharya has been sealed, police said. All efforts are being made to ensure thatinvestors get their money back. Acharya was earlier arrested when his company C U Marketing Limited failed to pay back investors8217; deposits last year.

Two arrested under MPDA

The Kandivli police has arrested two persons under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Persons Act MPDA for constructing illegal huts on state government land at Malad. According to a spokesperson for the BMC the arrests were made by Kandivli police on Sunday. The two have been identified as Ravi Kumar Rao and Azizullah Sheikh. They have been accused of constructing huts illegally on government land opposite the Malad water pumping station on Marve Road. The civic authorities had earlier initiated action against them under Section 52 of the Metropolitan Regional Town Planning MRTP Act. Police have, meanwhile, initiated action against two others under the MRTP Act for their alleged involvement in the constructions along with the earlier two accused. They are Parvez Khan and Nasim Sheikh.

One held for Gulshanmurder

The crime branch of Mumbai police have arrested an accused in the murder of music baron Gulshan Kumar, Wasim Mohammad Khan alias Babu, from Delhi and remanded him to police custody. This is the 30th accused arrested in the case. Wasim, who has been brought to the city on a transfer warrant by the chief metropolitan magistrate of New Delhi, was allegedly part of the conspiracy to eliminate the music baron. Babu had allegedly driven the car carrying the assailants and arms for execution of the crime, police said. Police have also seized a 7.62 bore revolver and five live rounds from Babu.
