A whiff of fresh Air
Air Life Studio,a fitness and wellness studio,was inaugurated in Aundh at the hands of Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor. Sunanda and Sudhir Mehta,founders of Air,COO Pervez Sheikh and Abhay Firodia – CMD,Force Motors were also present at the inauguration. Sunanda Mehta,founder and managing director of Air Life Studio,says, We created Air with the idea of giving people a second home,a place where they want to come,not have to come. We will continue to raise the bar and create new paradigms in the fitness world. We are delighted with the overwhelming response we have received,with over 700 pre-launch members,and will definitely try to live up to your expectations, she adds.

Kunal Kapoor,the chief guest for the evening,says,This is by far one of the coolest gyms I have ever seen. The most important thing is that it has been created by someone who has a love and passion for fitness. If you create something out of love and passion you can never go wrong. The inauguration was followed by an enthralling performance by singer Manasi Scott,who got the crowd on their feet with popular numbers like Khwaja Mere Khwaja,Marjaani,Mayya Mayya and Nazara Hai. She was accompanied by Santosh Shettys dance troupe. This was followed by fitness sequences by the instructors of Air,which gave future members a glimpse of whats in store for them. With state-of-the-art equipment and facilities as well as well-trained instructors,this fitness studio hopes to live up to its tagline If its in the air,its there.

Crowing glory
The May Queen Ball,which took place at the College of Military Engineering (CME),Dapodi on Saturday turned out to be a grand event that left everyone asking for more. The event which was held at the Officers Institute at CME was attended by over 2,000 spectators. The event was choreographed by Chaitali Arora,(ex-Gladrags semi-finalist),and in addition to this the contest also saw a Fire Juggler Dance and a troupe dance by Russian artists.

Prerna Singh was crowned the CME May Queen for the year 2009. In addition to winning the May Queen event she was also declared Miss Perfect 10. She was followed up by Rajshree Singh as the first runner-up,and Divya Sha as the second runner-up respectively.

Lt Gen USP Sinha,VSM,Commandant,CME crowned the winner,while Maj Gen Rajeev Datt,VSM,Deputy Commandant,CME crowned the first and second runners-up of the contest. In addition to this Netra Sapre was adjudged Miss Beautiful Smile and Payal Joshi was declared Miss Congenial.

Spell Bound
Theatre enthusiasts in the city were treated to an intriguing concept during the weekend. Ekjutes theatre group had organized a play called Hum Kahey Aap Suney at the Prithvi theatre on Saturday and Sunday. The play is based on the art form Daastaan Goi. Daastaan Goi basically means story telling,and is an ancient performing art. Each story is usually connected at the beginning and at the end in order to sustain the readers interest. The style of narration is such that the viewer is held spellbound,and the story intends to take the viewer on a never-ending adventurous ride.

Nadira Zaheer Babbar directed as well as acted in the play alongside Bharat Jha and Ananth Mahadevan.

Innocent expeditions
The Innocent Heroes Foundation will be taking 26 underprivileged girls for an expedition to the Himalayas on June 7. The expedition will last from June 7 to June 17. The girls will travel to Manali,Prini and Hamta Valley and to other prominent outdoor locations. In addition,the girls will also participate in camping,river crossing,basic rock climbing,trekking,rope skills,para-gliding,group tasks,field tasks,cooking in the out doors,and group discussions. The Add-Venture Group,which has been in the field for the last 20 years,will assist them during these sessions. Various NGOs like the Girls Observation Home,Eklvaya Bal Shikshan & Arogya Nyasa,India Sponsorship Committee,Centre for Education and Social Development,Asha Kiran Shelters Foundation and Community Aid and Sponsorship Program willl be participating in the programme.
