Rain in catchment areas increases dam levels

The continous spell of rains in the catchment areas has increased the dam levels in the last two days.

The continous spell of rains in the catchment areas has increased the dam levels in the last two days. On Wednesday,the four dams—Khadakwasla,Varasgaon,Temghar and Panshet —registered 78.29 per cent water levels. Though there was good rainfall on Monday and Tuesday in the catchment areas,on Wednesday Panshet registered only 8 mm rainfall,Varasgaon registered 10 mm rainfall and Temghar recorded 25 mm rainfall.

On Wednesday,the irrigation department registed 81.43 per cent water capacity with 1.61 TMC for the Khadakwasla dam,while on Tuesday it was 66.84 per cent. Panshet was 9.73 TMC with 86.63 per cent,while it was 83.51 per cent,in Varasgaon 9.63 TMC with 75.09 per cent. On Tuesday it was 71.50 per cent. Temghar recorded 63.79 per cent on Wednesday. The average dam level on September 1 was 78.29 per cent with 22.83 TMC while on Tuesday it was 21.66 TMC with 74.52 per cent.

On Tuesday the catchment areas recorded heavy rainfall with Khadakwasla at 19 mm rainfall,Panshet at 46 mm,Varasgaon at 47 mm and Temghar at 77 mm rainfall. On Wednesday,Panshet recorded 8 mm rainfall,Varasgaon was at 10 mm rainfall and Temghar was 25 mm rainfall,while Khadakwasla did not record any rainfall.
