Another commuter was injured when a stone was thrown at a local train on Friday. Amol Sakharam Kanade (23),a driver in a private firm at Santacruz,was hit on a Virar-bound slow train between Goregaon and Malad on Friday evening. “I boarded the train from Bandra at 5.45 pm. When the train left Goregaon,a child near the tracks threw a stone,which hit my head,’’ Amol said. According to GRP,in most of the cases,the culprits are children. Borivali railway police said a case has been registered against an unidentified person under Section 152 of Indian Railway Act.

BMC raids plastic godown in Marol

Official from BMC’s K-East ward office raided a godown in Marol and seized 355 kg of plastic having thickness of less than 50 microns on Saturday . This comes a day after 27 kg of such plastic bags were seized from a trader in Jogeshwari,

Prakash Jadhav,senior inspector,licenses said they got a tipoff that businessman Rana Pratap Sharma was selling bags below the permissible thickness at Great Indira Nagar at Andheri-Kurla Road in Marol. “We have filed charges against him under Section 394 of the MMC Act. He is liable to a pay a fine between Rs 5,000 to 25,000,” he said.
