Madarts students showcase a film based on recent racial attacks in Australia

Can a serious problem be highlighted through comedy? Yes,says Jaspal Bhatti. “I always hold that comedy is an equally effective way of expressing every issue, rather it attracts and impacts a larger audience.” Keeping the very spirit intact, students of Mad Arts,Jaspal Bhatti Film School have made a short film on the effects of racial attacks on the psychology of parents and relatives whose children are either in Australia or planning to go there for studies. ‘Sidney Chala Sydney” is a film about those insisting on going to Australia for further studies. The film follows Sidney who is all set to go abroad. His brother goes to fetch a taxi, his parents stuff everything from sugarcanes, watermelons to churan in his suitcase, there’s a Pundit to pray when a neighbour walks in and tells them about the racial attacks Down Under. On hearing the rise in cases,Sidney’s parents cancel the taxi, but when they think about the money spent, they hail the cab again. The indecisive charade carries on till they come across a boy who has come back from Australia to get treated for broken bones – because treatment is cheaper here! Directed by Jasraj Bhatti, written by Keshav Bharata the film is a eight-minute non commercial feature whose main aim is to highlight the problem of Indian students abroad. Starring Rashmme Beadi,Harvinder Singh,Harjot Kaur,Sukhraj Singh,Gursewak,Harsimran,Pankaj Katyal,Vinod Kumar,Gourav,Sheezan Shaikh,Nachitter and Shailender Arora,Jasraj informs that the film will soon be put on the net and screened on news channels. “Madarts is a school with a mission. We stress on our students to make meaningful films,” says CEO Savita Bhatti, happy that foreign students are now taking admissions in their school for the next batch starting February 1.
