Batcha death: Probe hints at suicide

Seven months after the death,CBI is yet to conclude the probe.

Seven months after the death of A M Sadhick Batcha,a close aide of former telecom minister A Raja, the Central Bureau of Investigation CBI is yet to conclude the probe that is increasingly pointing towards the possibility of a suicide.

A team examined the viscera and post-mortem reports of Batcha. We have not given up on the murder theory but the probe so far points to the possibility of suicide, said a CBI official.

Batcha was found hanging at his Chennai residence in March. The probe, which was initially being handled by the local police, was later transferred to the CBI.

Officials said they had roped in forensic experts from AIIMS to detect if Batcha was killed but even after detailed examination, sleuths had not found anything substantial. The CBI had handed over the suicide note to General Examiner of Questioned Documents which said the note was in Batchas handwriting and it was not forced.

Batcha, who was a key link to the entire 2G scam probe was questioned thrice by the CBI.
