Although out of power and favour, former TDP MP Yerran Naidu knows well the significance of symbolism and tactics in politics. Last week,he was by the side of TDP MP M V Mysura Reddy when the latter urged the Prime Minister to keep Home Minister P Chidambaram out of the exercise to draft the terms of reference of the committee on Telengana. The argument, made in rather strong words, was that Chidambaram had a hidden agenda to divide Andhra because it would benefit Tamil Nadu. However, the very next day,Naidu turned conciliatory, surprising his own party colleagues. He met Chidambaram and urged him to ensure that the terms of reference of the committee were limited to consultation only. Despite being in Delhi,Reddy incidentally was not made part of the delegation to Chidambaram. He was left wondering what changed in 24 hours.
