UP boxers make an impressionBANGALORE, JANUARY 13: Only nine bouts were decided on points while referee stopped contest RSC in 15 in the pre-quarterfinals of the 32nd Junior National Boxing Championship here on Thursday.

Uttar Pradesh have come out in a big way in this edition with four of their boxers winning their matches on Thursday.

UP8217;s Kulwant Singh beat Gurpreet Punjab in the feather weight category. Kulwant was fast on his feet and threw some fast punches.

The light welter category bout between Som Bahadur SSCB-E Ranjit AP was the toughest. Though it was close, Bahadur scored the points when it mattered most and won the verdict when the referee stopped the contest.
