Ultras kill engineer

IMPHAL, JANUARY 13: S C Sher, Chief Engineer of a hydro-electric project near here was killed by militants on Wednesday night. The militants pumped eight bullets into him after failing to extort money, official sources said Thursday.

About three armed militants swooped down on his guest house in Bishenpur district around 7.30 pm, forced him out and sprayed bullets from point blank range. Sher, who hails from Kashmir, was posted here four months back as Chief Engineer of the Loktak Hydro-electric Project and had been receiving extortion demands.
