Pitch dust yet to settle

With the debate still raging around the Green Park Kanpur wicket and the ICC...

South Africa played bad shots, says curator Daljit

8226;With the debate still raging around the Green Park Kanpur wicket and the ICC seeking an explanation from BCCI on the quality of surface, the man in-charge of the pitches in India still thinks the 8220;wicket wasn8217;t bad at all8221;.

Daljit Singh, chairman, BCCI Pitches Committee, was in Kanpur and had overseen preparations of the pitch before the final India-South Africa Test. 8220;I think the Green Park pitch was alright and very reasonable. It didn8217;t have too much bad bounce or too much of spin. If one sees the match details, the seamers scalped 14 wickets while spinners picked up 18 wickets. I believe that the South Africans played bad shots and were responsible for their own failure,8221; says Singh. He also said, 8220;It was hot in Kanpur too but to avoid what happened in Ahmedabad, we decided not to retain any moisture under the pitch. Maybe that8217;s why the pitch turned out a little drier.8221;
