Low turnout in Ramtek

Voting in the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency on Monday passed off without any untoward incident. The turnout was low at 45 per cent.

Voting in the Ramtek Lok Sabha constituency on Monday passed off without any untoward incident. The turnout was low at 45 per cent.

The Congress has fielded Subodh Mohite who quit the Shiv Sena recently, necessitating the election. The others in the race are the Sena8217;s Prakash Jadhav and Ranjit Deshmukh, former MPCC chief and Congress rebel Ranjit Deshmukh. The counting will be held on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rajashri Jichkar, widow of Shrikant Jichkar who was the party8217;s losing candidate during the 2004 election, has lodged a complaint against Mohite for publishing an advertisement in her name calling upon the people to vote for him 8220;to fulfil the dream of development of late Jichkar.8221;

8220;Mohite had come to me, but I had told him categorically not to publish any such advertisement. Yet, he did that and even printed my photograph,8221; she told reporters at a press conference. 8220;It has hurt my feelings and I hope Sonia Gandhi, Margaret Alva and Prabha Rau will understand my feelings. I am going to lodge a complaint against Mohite with the EC and the police,8221; she added.
