The 36th Chess Olympiad is in Mallorca, Spain next month. India are among the favourites to win a team medal, not least because Vishwanathan Anand will be representing the country after 10 years. All-India Chess Federation secretary PT Ummer Koya tells The Sunday Express why he’s bullish on the tournament

VISHY’S BACK

The presence of the world No. 2 on the topboard is bound to make a world of difference to the squad. Add to that India No 1 Sasikiran, P Harikrishna and Surya Sekhar Ganguly and you have a team on your hands

HUMPY IN HOT FORM

Koneru Humpy is in the prime of her career. Vijayalakshmi on the second board will be equally tough to beat because she, in the past, has successfully challenged topboard players. Dronavali Harika will be on the third board and on her day she can beat the best.
