
39 aspire for NCP tickets
PUNE: As many as 39 aspirants have submitted their applications with Nationalist Congress Party of Sharad Pawar for six assembly seats in the city. The party has not received any application for the Lok Sabha seat.
Prominent among those who have sought assembly tickets are former mayor Ankush Kakade and corporator Nitin Jagtap Shivajinagar, Shantilal Suratwala and corporator Vilas Wadekar Kasba Peth, corporator Rajlaxmi Bhosale and Suresh Ghule Pune Cantonment, Aba Nikam, Virendra Kirad, Bhavani Peth and Subhash Jagtap Parvati.
4 D D Singh gang men arrested
PUNE: Four members of the D D Singh gang were nabbed and gold and jewellery worth almost Rs 2 lakh recovered on July 21. Acting on a tip off, police sub inspector Sarjerao Gawde of the Faraskhana police station laid a trap for the accused. The police arrested Ahmed Shaikh Ibrahim, Rehman Ismail Shaikh, Tawuddin Alim Sarkar and Mehboob Hussain Shaikh. Jewellery worth Rs 1,89,690 was confiscated from them. The police had been on the lookout for Singh following the murders of Dashrath Chinappa Trawdan and Sairam Arjun Pillay on July 20 near the Army School of Physical Training in broad daylight.
Polls for Rahury factory in Oct
AHMEDNAGAR: Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has ordered to hold elections to Rahuri Cooperative Sugar factory in October. The term of the present board of directors of the factory has expired on July 29. The State Government had extended the term. The decision to extend the term was challenged by Raosaheb Bhingarde, a member of the sugar factory and president of Shrirampur Zilla Milk Producers Association.
Builder files case against PI
PUNE: Pune-based builders, J M J Developers Pvt Ltd have filed a criminal case here against Shrirampur Police Inspector Prakash Munde, lawyer Dinakar Tribhuvan and others, charging them of misusing their powers and defaming the builders.
The owner and manager of the construction firm were recently arrested by the Shrirampur police actin on a a complaint.
