When experts at the Saamana office in Mumbai were trying to find a photograph of a sari-clad woman which they could use to morph with one of Maharashtra Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, there came instructions from the top to look for pictures of a particular woman. It was bad enough for Rane that he was shown as a bride, but the selection of the photograph made it worse. If Rane has often drawn on his rabble-rouser past as a Shiv Sainik for combating the Sena, it was obviously the turn of his one-time friends to dig into his past and add salt to the wound.
