
Resident doctors at AIIMS have threatened to go on a strike starting Saturday, in protest against an advertisement for the recruitment of reserved category candidates issued earlier this week.
The advertisement, issued on behalf of the director of AIIMS, invites applications for 95 posts from SC/ST and OBC candidates, leaving out general category aspirants.
Over 1,200 resident doctors held a general body meeting on Tuesday and decided to stay away from work if need be. 8220;The advertisement is illegal and unconstitutional. The faculty members are also supporting us in this move. How can all vacant posts in the institute be offered under a special recruitment drive? This will make it 100 per cent reservation,8221; Dr Kaushal Kant Mishra, member of Resident Doctors8217; Association, said.
AIIMS faculty members are planning to take the matter to court.
