Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and his predecessor Ashok Chavan shared a dais in Nanded,the latters hometown,where the former consoled him saying that the difficult times would pass and that the Congress government would stand by him.
The chief minister,who was on his first visit to Nanded after assuming office,praised the development work done by Ashok Chavan,who had to quit after being linked with the Adarsh scam. He has been named as one of the 13 accused in the FIR filed by the CBI.
The two leaders addressed a party workers convention organised by MLC Amar Rajurkar. Prithviraj said,I took charge of the states leadership abruptly. However,the state was on the top during Ashok Chavans tenure… The work done by Ashok Chavan is appreciable and it should not stop due to lack of funds.
Later,he asked his predecessor to forget the past. Ye Samay Bhi Nikal Jayega… (This time will pass)… Dont worry… The party and the government is always with you.
The former chief minister,meanwhile,criticised his opponents within the party. Some people even asked me whether I will attend the party convention or not… But I told them that I was in the party and will remain so,hence there was no question to avoid this meet.
Ahluwalia,Tope stuck in traffic
Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Higher and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Tope on Friday missed a function attended by Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan owing to traffic snarls in Nanded. Both of them were stranded in traffic for about 30 minutes.
Tremors in Nanded
Mild tremors continued to rattle Nanded for the third consecutive day on Friday,when Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Governor K Sankaranarayanan visited the city. The city and surrounding areas experienced a series of mild tremors over the past two days.
