Lifestyle exhibitions may be a round-the-year affair in the city,still they are seen as serious shopping events. What else would explain the ladies thronging the most recent one — the Farwan 2011 at JW Marriott Chandigarh — formally dressed,tottering in their stilettos and arriving as early as 11 am. The exhibition,a mammoth one,offers a mix of the usual designer wear,albeit with a few surprises. The clothes (there are more than 50 labels on offer) are mostly trousseau wear. Blingy anarkalis seem to be the ruling outfit at every stall. Bodhi Tree from Jaipur has some interesting dresses,so does Monika Chaudhary,who is here from Delhi. There’s also jewellery — the costume jewellery by Karigari is as good as the real thing. Besides,one could look for wedding essentials — trousseau packaging,gift items,accessories and handbags. The two-day exhibition ends on September 30.
