A 26-year-old man was lynched on suspicion of cattle theft in Baramura village of Tripura's Sepahijala district on Tuesday. Police later arrested two people after victim's father lodged a complaint.
Teliamura Sub Divisional Police Officer Sonacharan Jamatia said the two persons were Pranay Debbarma from Dina Kobra Para of Champahower area in Khowai district and Madan Tripura from Sabroom of South Tripura district.
The move comes months after Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb sought from the Centre to include this tribal community as a sub-tribe of the Kukis in official documents.
The development comes five days after several persons, including two cops, were injured during clashes between supporters of the two parties in South Tripura district.
