The fashion week threw up two new stunners
When newbie Malavika Rane walked down the runway for the Delhi Fashion Week, most designers took her to be a seasoned model. The 21-year-old was adjudged the 8220;New Face8221; by Tikka Shatrujit Singh, adviser, Louis Vuitton and bagged a gift voucher for Rs 2.5 lakh. 8220;I had been doing fashion shows off and on through college but took it up seriously only after my graduation,8221; she said. The Mumbai-based model walked the ramp for seven designers including Malini Ramani, James Ferriera, Gaurav Gupta and Rahul Reddy. 8220;She is different and has an interesting face. In fact, I did not know that she was walking the ramp for the first time,8221; says designer Gaurav Gupta.
Another big find was Tanzanian model Millen Megsi who was judged the 8220;Face of the Week8221; among 22 models in the finale and took home a gift voucher from LV.
The contest was floated on the second day of the fashion week and Megsi was every designer8217;s choice. 8220;Black models are gorgeous and you will see more of them in the next fashion week,8221; said designer Tarun Tahiliani in whose show Megsi cut a decadent figure in a sterile white jersey gown. So, are black models an inclusive gesture in the multi cultural city? 8220;As far as I know, it8217;s not the first time black models are walking the ramp in India. In fact, they add more diversity and reflect the global world we live in,8221; said Gupta.
