Whatever decision his father takes regarding his alliance with the BJP 8212; even if it means expulsion from the Janata Dal Secular 8212; will be viewed as a blessing, Karnataka8217;s new Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today. The statement came as a JDS spokesperson said Gowda was likely to expel Kumaraswamy and the rebel MLAs for allying with the BJP.

Gowda had decided to take 8216;8216;all necessary steps including expulsion of all those who have violated the principles and discipline of the party in spite of their status and position,8217;8217; JDS spokesman and secretary general Kunwar Danish Ali said.

8216;8216;Whatever action he takes, we will say it is a blessing,8217;8217; Kumaraswamy said. 8216;8216;If it is expulsion, well, all right. Everybody is prepared for it and we don8217;t see any legal complications in continuing our alliance with the BJP,8217;8217; a senior JDS functionary said. If expelled, the rebel JDS MLAs will claim to be the real JDS since they have the numbers: 8216;8216;there is a Supreme Court ruling on this,8217;8217; an associate of Kumaraswamy8217;s said.

Gowda had, prior to the swearing in on February 3, indicated that he was not inclined to taking disciplinary action against his son and his group of MLAs; he would rather distance himself from them. On becoming Chief Minister, Kumaraswamy had said he would bring around his father by providing an administration focused on Gowda8217;s development objectives.
