Not a ‘rocking’ act
The gates opened at 5pm for the Ranbir Kapoor fans waiting for his ‘Rockstar’ performance at Vits lawns at the Balewadi stadium. At 7:30pm,in a bid to console the restless audience,Hindi Rock band Highway 61 shuffled onto stage. The lead pair of Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming film Rockstar,Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri, reached the stadium at 8pm and rushed straight to the stage. Kapoor conveyed Diwali wishes to the audience and encouraged them to watch Rockstar in theatres. A karaoke session had 10 boys and 10 girls, picked by the celebrities, shouting Sadda Haq into the microphone, followed by Kapoor and Fakhri flinging t-shirts and gift hampers at the audiences. The blink-and-go gig was definitely not worth the three-hour wait. Mediapersons had been invited to cover the promotional event, but were unceremoniously shunted away by the organisers. If this is what they call ‘film promotion’,we wonder how it will fare!
