It came as a big relief for the department and local residents as a leopard trapped from the same village had managed to escape on May 21, by breaking open the cage. The villagers had then blamed the department for using inferior-quality cages.

On May 3, five-year-old Sai Mandlik from Dindore village was killed by a leopard. Earlier, on April 17, another five-year-old boy, Praveen Devaram Dudhpade, was killed by a leopard in Khamundi village of the same taluka.

The same day, a leopard had also attacked three-year-old Renuka Gopal Waghmare around 4 am when she was sleeping under a tree with other family members who managed to rescue her. She suffered injuries on her neck.
