The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) gunned down a dacoit,Rudal Yadav,following an encounter at Jataha Bazar of Kushinagar district early on Monday. Yadav,who hails from Dhanha area of Bihars West Champaran district,carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head from UP Police and Rs 25,000 from Bihar Police. In West Champaran,he had 25 cases,including those of murder,attempt to murder and kidnapping,pending against him. Two cases of double murders each were registered against him at Jataha Bazar and Hanumanganj police stations of Kushinagar. The ADG (Law & Order),Brij Lal,said the STF team,led by Deputy Superintendent of Police S Anand,laid a trap near an embankment at Katai Bharpurwa village in Jataha Bazar following a tip-off. When they spotted Yadav and his gang walking towards the embankment,they moved in to arrest them. But the dacoits opened fire. After Yadavs death,his gang members escaped,Lal said. A .315 bore rifle and two .12 bore double-barrelled guns along with live cartridges were recovered from the possession of Yadav.
