It was a bit of history and culture that came alive in Bajaj Capital Art Houses anniversary art show at Visual Arts Gallery in India Habitat Centre on Wednesday. The exhibition,titled Beyond the Form saw a stern Vietnamese army General Wong Neo Giang Giap staring from the canvas in Mind the Giap by Vivek Vilasani,while on the other wall artist Viveek Sharma brought alive the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks Bullet proof,oil on canvas. The image of Chathrapathi Shivaji on the horse back is juxtaposed with that of commandoes bearing the tricolour. Everyday concerns,issues and stories come alive in the works. Artists Jayasri and Maya Burman bring alive the old world charm of the folk form in their works while Anil Gaikwad makes his artistic comment using old and new material, says curator Sushma Bahl. Around 40 works are on display and participating artists include George Martin PJ,Jagdish Chinthala,Krishen Khanna and TM Azis. The works are priced from Rs 1.75 lakh. The opening on Wednesday drew in prominent names like jewellery designer Anu Sachdev,Aruna Vasudev of Osians and Aprajita Jain of Seven Art gallery.
