As the fog cover remained thin on the second day,improving visibility,most of the short-route trains arrived at the Chandigarh railway station on time or with a short delay. Similarly,the flight operations also improved with 10 flights out of 14 taking off on time. However,three flights were cancelled.
According to an official of Chandigarh Airport,due to operational reasons,three flights were cancelled. These were JetKonnect flight S2 4238/35 from Delhi to Chandigarh and two flights of Jet Airways flight 9W 2657 from Chandigarh to Delhi and 9W 2515 from Jaipur to Chandigarh.
JetKing flight 9W 489/67 Mumbai-Chandigarh-Mumbai was delayed by two hours. The flight which had a scheduled arrival at 12.10 pm and departure at 12.45 pm arrived at 2.10 pm and left at 2.40 pm.
Only three flights two of Jet Airways and one of JetKonnect were cancelled on Sunday. All the remaining flights took off on time or with some delay, said the official.
After five days,those travelling by trains got some relief as most of the short-route trains arrived on time. The Kalka Shatabadi Express (12011) from Delhi to Chandigarh which was running late by around two hours from December 17 onwards arrived on the Chandigarh railway station just 10 minutes behind schedule. The New Delhi Shatabdi (12005) which was running late by 2 hours from December 17 onwards reached the Chandigarh railway station on time on the second day. Amritsar Chandigarh Superfast (12242) also reached Chandigarh station on time.
However,some of the long-distance trains like Unchahar Express (14217) running from Allahabad to Chandigarh witnessed a delay of 7 hours and 35 minutes. Howrah Delhi Kalka Mail was late by 7 hours and 48 minutes. Another train which witnessed long delay was 05903 Dibrugarh-Chandigarh Express which was late by 9 hours 11 minutes.
