Imran undergoes surgery

Lahore: Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan underwent a successful surgery on Monday to rectify an intestinal problem. A spokesman for Imrans political party Tehreek-e-Insaaf party said the former all-rounder had complained of severe stomach pain after regular exercise at his Lahore residence. He suffered cramps in his small intestine during the exercises and was taken to the Shaukat Khanum hospital for diagnosis where doctors decided to do the surgery, he said. Imran is out of danger and his condition is stable now.

Amarnath blames complacency

New Delhi: Former India cricketer Mohinder Amarnath criticised Mahendra Singh Dhonis men on Monday for taking a depleted but spirited Australian side too lightly and said the hosts overconfidence eventually cost them the ODI series. The Indian team made a mistake by taking their opponents lightly. Overconfidence was the major factor in the defeat. We made so many mistakes on the field and our bowling was also not upto the mark in the series, Amarnath said.

Mithali tops batting charts

Dubai: Mithali Raj topped the ICC ODI women8217;s batting charts after gaining two positions while captain Jhulan Goswami swapped her top spot in the bowlers8217; list with Holly Colvin. Mithali replaced ICC Women8217;s cricketer of the year Claire Taylor of England and pushed Sarah Taylor to the third spot. Rumeli Dhar is the other Indian in the top-10 bowlers8217; chart at sixth.
