Singer Daler Mehndi was released on bail today, 11 days after his arrest in connection with two cases, relating to human trafficking and threatening an operator of the police department. The Patiala police did not oppose his plea or seek an extension of his remand.Immediately after his release this evening, Daler told reporters that he was thankful to the Almighty. Unlike on October 27, when he was mobbed when he appeared before the local police, fans today raised slogans of ‘‘Sat Sri Akal’’.Duty Magistrate Satpal ordered his release on bail on the furnishing of a bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties of the same amount, which can be submitted by January six.Police sources said that an extension in Daler’s remand was not sought, as it was ‘‘not required’’.
