In her father’s honour

An audio-visual website with videos, poems, songs and an insight into the life of the late poet Kaifi Azmi was launched by daughter, veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently.

An audio-visual website with videos, poems, songs and an insight into the life of the late poet Kaifi Azmi was launched by daughter, veteran actress Shabana Azmi recently. Titled Kaifi Azmi – A Rebellious Poet, the website is divided into five sections — the legend, collection, tributes, Mijwan and press. It showcases the poet’s early life, his contribution to films, rare pictures, his connection with Hyderabad, famous ghazals, nazms and his contribution to the village Mijwan in Azamgarh.

 

National heritage

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s ancestral home in Peshawar, Pakistan has been declared as a national heritage. In an attempt to bring Pakistan and India closer, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered authorities to acquire the dilapidated property and the government is planning to convert it into a museum. The 130 square meter home is located in Peshawar’s famous Qisa Khawani bazaar area and is in a dilapidated condition. Plans are on to invite 91-year-old Kumar and his family after converting the house into a museum.
