Air Marshal Daljit Singh,Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief,South Western Air Command (SWAC),Indian Air Force (IAF),on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project and laid emphasis on minimum disturbance to civil flights due to ongoing work.
Singh,accompanied by his wife Harjeet Kaur,president AFWWA (Regional),inspected the Air Force Station,Pune,for its operational preparedness during his two-day visit to the city that began on Monday.
On the first day of his visit,Air Marshal Singh addressed all service and civilian personnel at the station and emphasised on enhancing the operational potential and war fighting capabilities of the IAF. He urged all to work towards optimum utilisation of resources both men and material,be abreast with the present security environment within and outside the country,and be ready to face challenges at lower end of the conflict spectrum to the highest end, said a release issued by Press Information Bureau,Defence Wing.
He also stressed the need to develop leadership qualities among all groups of air warriors,usage of latest technology,and to be more cost conscious in day-to-day activities, the release added.
According to the release,he was satisfied with the progress in the Modernisation of Airfield Infrastructure (MAFI) project and laid emphasis on minimum disturbance to civil flights due to ongoing work. He was pleased with the role and task achieved by the station in the past year,
The AOC-in- C was received by Air Commodore Surat Singh,Air Officer Commanding,Air Force Station,Pune,and Nisha Singh,president,AFWWA (Local). Air Marshal Singh was presented with a ceremonial guard of honour.
Air Marshal also inaugurated the 52nd inter-services squash championship being held at the station from September 23 to September 26 where teams from Army,Navy and Air Force are participating.
