World Blood Donor Day
Like every year,this year too,World Blood Donor Day witnessed felicitation of blood donors as a tribute for the selfless acts of donating life-saving blood. Theme for this year WBDD included 100 per cent voluntary non-remunerated blood and blood components. Apart from felicitation,blood banks all over the city organised blood donation awareness campaigns. Four blood banks of Pune (Ruby,KEM,Inlaks and Sahyadhri),in association with the Lifeline Community Network conducted a joint programme on June 14 to commemorate the WBDD at Sahyadhri Hospital.
Neuroscience conference
Neurosciences and Neurocritical Care Department of Ruby Hall Clinic had organised first National Neurosciences and Neurocritical Care Conference on June 13 and 14. Dr K B Grant,director,Ruby Hall Clinic inaugurated the conference. Neurological emergencies are common and are increasing in number and timely treatment reduces the morbidity significantly. Other Neurological emergencies include epilepsy (fits),infection of brain,acute neuropathies,and intoxications. All of these patients need specialised monitoring,their out comes definitely improves with treatment in Neurocritical ICU.
A healthier tomorrow
Quantum and Foreheart have come up with a two days workshop in relation to the life style related disease,which is also open for people at large who want to take it up in their individual capacity. Workshop is inclusive of a total risk assessment with lab tests,behavioral pattern understanding,follow-ups and management of lifestyle. The workshop caters to blood pressure,pulse,weight,BMI,BMR,Blood investigation complete lipid profile,blood sugar level,haemoglobin estimation strength,flexibility and cardiac fitness testing,online lifestyle questionnaires.
Gastric cancer update
The inaugural gastric cancer update was held on June 14 at Ruby Hall Cancer Centre. It was initiated with an inauguration of the state-of-the-art Centre for Advanced Gastrointestinal Oncology CAGO Ruby Hall Clinic. Dr KB Grant highlighted the fact that cancer can be cured if detected at an early stage. He also added that cancer treatment is changing rapidly making it possible to treat and cure even advanced cancers. Live surgical workshop was conducted during the conference. CAGO also released guidelines for treatment of gastric and GE junction cancers.
