A day after fire that broke out in Gold Mohur Mills in Dadar, the fire brigade is yet to ascertain the cause of the fire that raged for nearly five hours on Wednesday afternoon.

An investigating team of the fire brigade is currently trying to find out the exact cause of the fire. ‘Conspiracy’ cannot be ruled out, according to the officials. “Such a major fire in a defunct mill and the way it spread is not a usual occurrence. There are reasons to believe that it was not an accident,” said chief fire officer Uday Tatkare.

He added that chances of a short circuit are less because the supply of electricity to the closed mill was not regular. The investigating fire officials said that in addition to LPG cylinders, there several jerry cans stored in various places that could have fuelled the fire. Tatkare confirmed that the fire had broken out simultaneously in more than one part of the mill. Meanwhile, the mill structure is dangerous and three firemen suffered injuries after debris fell on them on Thursday morning. They were rendered preliminary medical treatment at the KEM Hospital in Sion.
