A Chinese Chaat!
If you thought the much desi chaat could never have a firangi version, then here’s a surprise. For all those who love Chinese cuisine, there actually exists a Chinese chaat! Those who brought it here insist it’s an original all the way. “It is a spicy snack that’s always quite appetising,” tells Rachit Nagpal, the owner of Chaman Jee Sweets in Panchkula’s Sector 7 where the Chinese chaat has been introduced after making appearances in Delhi. “While we offer only vegetarian versions, overseas the non-vegetarian option does well,” adds Nagpal who might introduce the non-veg version given there’s a demand for it. In the line-up of regular chaats like ‘Dahi Bhalla Chaat’,‘Papri Chaat’ and ‘Aloo Tikki Chaat’,the Chinese chaat offers a refreshing change as it brings in a mix of baby corn, honey cauliflower, masala potato, paneer tikka,Manchurian and umpteen Chinese greens all in one plate. The Chinese chaat is priced at Rs 50 per plate. Given the encouraging response,Nagpal is now looking to introduce Continental and Thai snacks as well.
