Ludhiana (Punjab), Feb 12: Every year Ludhiana becomes the destination for hundreds of sports enthusiasts from around the world who come to witness the Kila Raipur Sports Festival or the Rural Olympics. In the 80th edition of the rural Olympics held in Kila Raipur near Ludhiana, children, youngsters and veterans exhibited their courage and skill. The four-day sporting event from February 4-7 saw stuntmen performing daredevil acts like weight lifting with beard, pulling car with teeth, standing on a moving bike, holding ladder in mouth among others. Sportspersons displayed their agility and dexterity in a plethora of other sports like shot-put, weight lifting, paragliding and karate. The sporting event started in 1933 with only wrestling and athletics. Sports lovers from around the world flock to witness the unique sporting event. These games not only promote sportsmanship but also help develop closer people-to-people contact.

Few suspects seen near Army Cantonment area in Dholewal

Ludhiana, Jan 23 (ANI): Few suspects were seen near the army cantonment area in Dholewal On Saturday evening, due to which the Ludhiana police officials issued high alert in the region. As a result, search operation was conducted in the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ravinder Singh Cheema on Saturday said that ahead of the Republic day celebration, routine search operation is going on. He also said that he cannot disclose exactly about the operation right now.

"Goonj-2016", the four-day long 31st Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Some 1200 students from universities across North India participated in 26 events including folk and classical music, mimicry, theatre, quiz and literary activities. New Delhi/Gurgaon / Ludhiana, Jan 08 (ANI): New Delhi woke up to a foggy morning on Friday with minimum temperatures dropping to 11 degree Celsius and poor visibility hitting vehicular movement. Early morning departures and arrivals of flights were delayed as visibility was very low on the runway. Around 60 flights were delayed. Delhi is expected to witness light rains on Saturday evening which is expected to lower the temperatures further. The traffic was slow, causing inconvenience to the commuters. Gurgaon also experienced severe foggy condition allowing only a very few vehicles on the roads. Low visibility also created trouble in reading sign boards. Meanwhile, Ludhiana city in state of Punjab was also covered under a thick blanket of fog as cold wave conditions prevailed. The year 2016 started at a warm note but the temperatures might change again.
