The 20-year-old from Ludhiana and her friend were returning from Sarabha Nagar market late on Saturday when their car was allegedly intercepted near Issewal by three accused. The girl alleged that she was gangraped and her friend was assaulted.
Stopping the students who were to perform once again, the minister lashed out at the education officer saying, “Madam, kindly etho chale jaao. Please chale jao ethe. Tuhaade kaaran function dobara repeat hon lag geya... (Madam, please leave. Because of you, function is being repeated again).”
The deceased, Mandeep Bansal (32), was a resident of Khanna Enclave on Dhandhra Road. He was working as an architect with a private firm and was visiting his client’s site when the incident took place.

The girl strangled her brother to death as she ‘wanted to get rid of him’. The accused confessed to her crime during questioning and said that she was frustrated as her brother used to follow her wherever she went and used abusive language towards her.

Ludhiana, Jan 23 (ANI): Few suspects were seen near the army cantonment area in Dholewal On Saturday evening, due to which the Ludhiana police officials issued high alert in the region. As a result, search operation was conducted in the area. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ravinder Singh Cheema on Saturday said that ahead of the Republic day celebration, routine search operation is going on. He also said that he cannot disclose exactly about the operation right now.
Ludhiana,Jan 22 (ANI): Punjab Agricultural University in Ludhiana comes alive with the lively performances by students from North India. "Goonj-2016", the four-day long 31st Inter-University North Zone Youth Festival was organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs in collaboration with Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Some 1200 students from universities across North India participated in 26 events including folk and classical music, mimicry, theatre, quiz and literary activities. The best performers will represent the north zone in a national level youth festival to be held in Mysore city in Karnataka.
New Delhi/Gurgaon / Ludhiana, Jan 08 (ANI): New Delhi woke up to a foggy morning on Friday with minimum temperatures dropping to 11 degree Celsius and poor visibility hitting vehicular movement. Early morning departures and arrivals of flights were delayed as visibility was very low on the runway. Around 60 flights were delayed. Delhi is expected to witness light rains on Saturday evening which is expected to lower the temperatures further. The traffic was slow, causing inconvenience to the commuters. Gurgaon also experienced severe foggy condition allowing only a very few vehicles on the roads. Low visibility also created trouble in reading sign boards. Meanwhile, Ludhiana city in state of Punjab was also covered under a thick blanket of fog as cold wave conditions prevailed. The year 2016 started at a warm note but the temperatures might change again.
