The district administration along with Ludhiana Municipal Corporation organised the third round of its anti-begging drive on Saturday.

Around 37 beggars were caught and taken to Haibowal shelter home where they were groomed and fed. However, the administration claimed that ‘number of beggars reduced in city due to ongoing drive.’ Isha Kalia, additional commissioner MC and additional deputy commissioner said, “In first round we caught 16 beggars and in second round, 62 were caught.

Today there were less beggars which prove that drive is proving fruitful.”
