Meet the Masters

Watching maestros create magic on stage is a feeling hard to beat.

Watching maestros create magic on stage is a feeling hard to beat. For the last three days, music buffs have been queuing up at Kamani auditorium for just this experience. The Shriram Shankarlal Music Festival, which completed 75 years, paid tribute to Pt Ravi Shankar this year with an array of names. The festival ends today.

Today’s show will begin at 10.30 am with young vocalist Kaushiki Desikan, daughter of renowned Indian classical singer Ajoy Chakraborty. Pt Ronu Majumdar, whose performance comes next,is well-known for taking the audience into his Maihar gharana roots and, just as easily,to new-age music. Uday Bhawalkar will open the evening session with his rich vocals. The other performer,Pt Chhannulal Mishra, brings with him a rich repertoire of thumri and bhajans among other styles. There’ll be enough music to make memories.

To be held at Kamani auditorium till today
