Another week of free parking at Khan Market
New Delhi: The plan to make vehicle-parking in Khan Market a paid facility has been postponed by a week. According to the initial decision,the Environment Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) had asked the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to charge a fee for parking in the market,starting April 1. The civic agency,however,has said it will take a weeks time to finalise the details. NDMC spokesperson Anand Tiwari said they are yet to decide on the rates. We will look at the usage and charge accordingly, he said. Parking facility at the market has been free for the last 60 years. The tender for the paid parking has been awarded to a private company.
2-year-old girl dies in a roof collapse
New Delhi: A two-year-old girl was killed and two others injured when the roof of an under-construction building collapsed on Thursday in Sector-23,Rohini. A girl was trapped in the debris. She was rushed to a nearby hospital,where the doctors declared her dead on arrival, said and officials of the fire brigade.
Lady Hardinge doctors go on strike
New Delhi: Over 300 resident doctors of Lady Hardinge Medical College and Sucheta Kriplani Hospital went on strike on Thursday to protest the alleged manhandling of one of their colleagues by Class IV employees of the hospital a day earlier. While emergency services at the hospitals were manned by faculty members,OPDs of most departments had to be shut,sources said.
