an,child die in house collapse
A woman and her grandson were killed when an under-construction building collapsed in West Delhi. The two were on their way to a market,the police said on Monday. The three-storeyed building collapsed in Guru Nanak Dev Nagar locality on Sunday evening,in which three persons were injured. The police arrested the contractor Harpreet Singh.
Criminal arrested
The Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a 35-year-old sharpshooter of the Sunda Sarpanch gang,wanted in at least four cases of murder and attempt to murder. Dinesh,a resident of Haryanas Jhajjar village had been absconding and was finally arrested on Sunday near Peeragarhi bus stand when he came there to meet his associates.
Ghazipur abattoir
Even as meat traders are yet to take a decision on shifting to Ghazipur,the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is planning to construct another slaughterhouse there. The civic body has said that it will come up with a new slaughterhouse with a capacity for slaughtering 20,000 animals per day.
Arms racket: 1 held
Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have cracked an inter-state arms smuggling racket with the arrest of a young graduate who sold weapons made in Bihar for Rs 50,000 in the city. Fourteen pistols and revolvers have been recovered. According to the police,Manish Kumar (26),a resident of Bihars Munger,allegedly smuggling weapons into Delhi and adjoining areas,was caught by Delhi Polices Crime Branch recently from Rohini Sector-24.
BJP protest march
The Bharatiya Janata Party will holding a protest march against Delhi Governments policies on Tuesday. All BJP MLAs of Delhi Assembly will be participating in the march from Shaheedi Park,Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg at 11 am to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshits office. The BJP has been protesting against the price rise and the recent hike in DTC bus fares.
25 dengue cases
Twenty five persons tested positive for dengue viral fever in the Capital on Monday,taking the total number of people suffering from the vector-borne disease to 391.
