Three held for misbehaving with store manager

The Chandigarh police arrested three youths on Saturday for allegedly staring at a store manager working at a mall,in an objectionable manner and thereafter misbehaving with her.

The Chandigarh police arrested three youths on Saturday for allegedly staring at a store manager working at a mall,in an objectionable manner and thereafter misbehaving with her. The accused were allegedly in an inebriated state when they committed the offence,police said.

According to the police,the accused – Daljit,Gautam amd Kamalpreet – had visited Elante Mall in Industrial Area,Phase-1 late evening on Saturday. The three,who were allegedly in an inebriated state,entered in one of the showrooms at 8.30 pm. While the store manager was busy with other customers,the accused allegedly started staring at her. When the manager objected to their behaviour,the accused started misbehaving with her.

The victim,thereupon,made a call to the police and the three were arrested on the spot. The accused are staying at a paying guest accommodation in Mohali,Phase 4. Aged between 21 and 25,all the accused are preparing for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination,police said.

The Chandigarh Police registered a case of stalking under Section 354-D of the IPC against the accused at Industrial Area police station. Al three were later bailed out.

Since January this year,155 cases of molestation have been registered,as compared to only 107 cases under the same offence in 2012.
