Chandigarh netball team return with rich haul
Chandigarh Netball sub-junior boys’ returned with a silver medal from the 16th Sub Junior National Netball Championship under the aegis of Netball Federation of India (Regd.) at Hamirpur in Himachal Pardesh from May 20 to 24.The tournament was organised by Netball Association of Himachal Pardesh. In the final Punjab outplayed Chandigarh 30-28 in a close match to bag the gold medal. The team comprised of Deepak Kundu (captain),Sanjay Dutt (vice captain),Narveer,Jagdeep Bhist,Vikas,Raghav Sood,Sumit Yadav,Gurshinder Singh,Akshay Sharma,Pranjal,Prabhjot and Nitish with Dr G.P. Pal as manager and Ratinder Singh as coach.

Queen’s Baton Relay to reach Chandigarh on July 3
The Queen’s Baton Relay to arrive in India in June ahead of the Commonwealth Games,will reach Chandigarh on July 3. Informing about the importance of the relay,Sanjay Kumar,secretary sports,said,”It will be an honour to bring in the Queen’s Baton which started its journey on October 29,2009,from the Buckingham Palace in England. It will enter India on June 29. The Baton will reach India after having travelled through all 70 nations of the Commonwealth.” The relay will conclude after the final baton-bearer enters the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during the Opening Ceremony of the XIX Commonwealth Games on October 3. ML Sharma,Director Sports,said,”The baton will be received at the Zirakpur border coming in from Patiala in Punjab to Chandigarh. Then covering a distance of approximately 9.2 kilometers the baton will reach the Sports Complex,Sector 7,Chandigarh,where it will be given a grand reception by the Administration. On the morning of July 4,the baton will then be passed on to the HP Government at the Mehatpur border.” The Queen’s Baton would have covered a distance of more than 170,000 kilometres in 240 days.

Jaiveer lifts golf title
Jaiveer Singh won the overall title in the Pitch and Putt Golf tournament held atThe British School Junior Golf Academy on Sunday. Jaiveer carded 52 in two rounds. Amrit Lal was two shots behind at second with a score of 52.
