Special train to Shimla from December 18
PARWANOO:
A special deluxe train on the lines of Shivalik Express from Kalka to Shimla will start plying from December 18 to 30 to facilitate tourists during the Christmas season. The train will start from Kalka at 6.30 am. “In case tourist flow increases,the railways will start another special train,” said Kalka Station Superintendent Ajay Kochhar.

High-tension wire falls in Kalka Bazaar
PARWANOO:
A high-tension wire fell in the Kalka Bazaar near Gandhi Chowk on Monday morning when a tractor-trolley brought it down while passing through. No causalities were reported. A traffic police constable on duty,however,had a narrow escape. Earlier too,wires have broken in Kalka bazaar due to big trucks but the Electricity department has failed to take any step to lift the wires. Kalka SDO (Electricity) Pritam Singh was not available for comments.        

BJP criticises HSEB privatisation proposal
AMBALA:
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticised the proposal of the Haryana government to introduce privatisation in some of the departments and execute government works through contractors. Reacting sharply to the proposal,Haryana BJP Legislature Party leader Anil Vij said the decision of the Hooda government to hand over work of the Panipat and Gurgaon circles of the Haryana State Electricity Board (HSEB) to private companies had been taken under pressure from the vested interests.

Three thieves held
Mohali:
The local police claimed to have busted a gang of thieves with the arrest of three of its members. A huge cache of stolen iron articles was recovered from the accused,the police said on Monday. According to information,a police party nabbed Kishore,the alleged kingpin,Matlesh Kumar and Inglesh Kumar near the bus stand in Phase VIII on Sunday night. A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC has been lodged against them.
