The geometry of the plan and the elevation accentuates the asymmetric entrance porch, that is a visual store-house of energy. The dynamism of the partial arch coincides with the angles of Greenwich time culminating into an epitome of narrative geometry. At the The Timex Factory,Baddi, its the perfect combination of serenity and concept that greets you. “And it’s this very fact that got me the award for excellence in built environment from the Indian Buildings Congress this week,” informs architect Sangeet Sharma,as he takes us around the project he’s named ‘Lyrical Imagery in Straight Lines’.

Here, while the clock formation depicting the Timex range visually stops at the intersection of the porch,“graphics have been used to represent the philosophy and ideology of Timex. Using colour as an identifiable medium of representation, the factory is exuberant and lively throughout,” he smiles proudly,as he recalls the time when the challenge was to succeed the world class design of the company’s headquarters in US. “And here we are,a step ahead of them,” he points out, standing on the first floor of the building that gives the perfect hill view. “The idea was to give those working in the factory a sight that relaxes,” Sangeet steps down and maps the future course. “KMG and Netsmartz IT buildings in Chandigarh and Mohali,Institutional buildings for Jammu University,Mega hostel for NIT Jalandhar and hospitals in Rajgir (Bihar),” he lists. But till then,”it’s enjoying this building and the philosophy behind Chandigarh, one which I agree with. Simplicity in architecture is difficult but then that’s what is timeless,” he leaves us with that.
