Seeing red

Following attacks on Christian institutions in Orissa recently, a delegation of the community’s leaders had gone to meet Home Minister Shivraj Patil. Having listened to them patiently, Patil remarked that it was the handiwork of the Maoists. Aghast, the Christians reminded Patil that the Vishwa Hindu Parishad had already taken responsibility for the attacks. Patil remained unmoved, although he assured the delegation that he would look into their complaints.
