
The Model Town police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft case reported last month at the house of local industrialist, Satish Aul.
The accused have been identified as Deepak Bahadur, a domestic help of the family, and his accomplice, Jagat Bahadur. The third accused, Chakkra Bahadur, however, is still absconding.
The trio had allegedly stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 6 lakh and cash to the tune of Rs 8,000, when the Aul family had gone to Chandigarh last month. Satish Aul runs a cycle parts manufacturing unit in the city.
According to Model Town SHO Beant Kumar Juneja, the Aul family had hired Deepak Bahadur, a resident Nepal, on November 11. On November 16, Deepak along with two of his accomplices, escaped with gold jewellery and cash from the house.
The police also claim to have recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 1.50 lakh from the accused. Juneja said the police had been investigating the matter thoroughly after registering the case last month.
8220;We had been keeping tabs on the possible hideouts of the accused and were able to nab Deepak and his accomplice Jagat from Dugri late last evening,8221; he said.
Juneja further said that his team is trying their best to arrest the third accused and recover the remaining jewellery.
8220;We would try to take Deepak and Jagat on police remand and interrogate them about the remaining jewellery and their third accomplice. We hope to arrest the third accused soon,8221; he said.
