In the midst of all the political drama, French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont threw in his bit. Considered among the brightest French diplomats, Bonnafont went and met BJP president Rajnath Singh over the weekend trying to convince him on the merits of the nuclear deal. It was rather late in the day for Singh to even say he will consider. But he told Bonnafont that his party had taken no objection to an Indo-French deal, so he should not worry. The French envoy explained that his country8217;s deal could only happen after the Indo-US pact went through. Tough luck in that case, he was told.
