Mumbai, Nov 12: An inspired half century by Yogesh Shah enabled debutantes Antonio De Silva High School, Dadar upset Shardashram Vidyamandir Marathi in the u-16 Multigames Inter-school cricket tournament for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Oval Maidan, Sachivalaya today.

Yogesh played a sheet anchor role, battled cramps to score 50 off 48 balls as Antonio piled up 124 for nine wickets. Shardashram fell 28 runs short, finishing at 96 for nine in the stipulated 20 overs.

Antonio were off to a shaky start, managing just 19 in the first five overs. But once Yogesh stepped in, the Shardashram fielders were sent on a leather hunt. He hit five fours and one six before falling in the 18th over with the score at 107. In reply, the Shardashram innings never got going, as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

In another upset, Raje Shivaji IES Vidyalaya scored a 4-run victory over Balmohan Vidyamandir to enter the quarter-final. After scoring 115 for nine wickets, IES restricted the Harris Shield and Giles Shieldchampions to 111 for 5. Balmohan seemed to be coasting to victory, with Harshad Rawale 35 and Aditya Tausalkar 16 involved in a blazing partnership for the fourth wicket, after their team was struggling at 39-3.

Rawale8217;s 35 came off 27 balls 3215;4 while Tausalkar hit the first six of the tournament in his 12-ball innings. But with the successive dismissals of the two batsmen, Balmohan8217;s hopes dwindled. They needed 10 off the last over, five off the last three deliveries. Ashish Upasani bowled two dot balls to put the issue beyond Balmohan.

Darshan Mayekar with 38 off 35 balls 4215;4 and Roshan Salvi 26 off 26 balls, 3215;4 were the architects of the IES innings.

Yesterday, Shardashram English scored a 10-wicket win over St Sebastian to enter the final.
